Farmer Veteran Coalition
As the Program Director at the Farmer Veteran Coalition, Rachel Petitt has managed the Fellowship Fund since 2015. Rachel’s tasks include brokering corporate discounts on behalf of FVC members, facilitating partnerships with other advocacy groups, and supporting grant reporting. Rachel holds a degree in Community Studies with an emphasis on Food and Agriculture, from the University of California at Santa Cruz. During her time at UCSC, Rachel worked on a specialized flower farm, hand pollinating narcissus and amaryllis for hybridization and managing farmers markets throughout the South San Francisco Bay area. She spent three years working on a mixed vegetable and pastured poultry operation in Yolo County, as well as a hop yard and craft brewery. Prior to joining FVC, Rachel worked with the Community Alliance with Family Farmers advocating for direct to market farmers and facilitating farm to institution programs. Outside of work, her passions include reducing food waste and increasing the food security of all folks in the community.
