David Cohn is originally from Kansas where he received a business degree. He became a Marine officer and flew CH-53Ds in the Corps, participating in Desert Shield/Storm and humanitarian relief efforts in the Pacific.
In 1994, he left active duty and went to graduate school at the University of Arizona where he earned a Master’s in Adult Literacy and, later, a PhD in Special Education. He transferred from the Marine Reserve to the Air Force Reserve in 1996; he flew the Combat Search and Rescue mission, participating in Operations Northern Watch, Southern Watch, and Enduring Freedom. David left Reserve Status in 2008. In 2006, he became involved with distributing a biological soil conditioning product called Bactifeed.
Shortly thereafter, in 2008, David met a man named Michael O’Gorman who wanted to help veterans become farmers. Later that year, Michael came up with the idea to start and organize a movement called Farmer Veteran Coalition. David has enthusiastically supported FVC ever since, sharing his product with veterans to help them make their soils more productive and efficient at producing quality crops and produce.
