Adam Sabourin was raised in Hanford, California and graduated from high school at Armona Union Academy in 1998. Upon graduation he was admitted to the United States Military Academy, West Point, as a member of the Bicentennial Class of 2002. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Management with a Minor in Computer Science Engineering, he was assigned to the Aviation Branch and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He was promoted to Captain during his deployment to Iraq.
Adam took a full-time position with the California National Guard flying search and rescue helicopters out of Mather Airfield in Sacramento. During eighteen months of service with the Cal Guard, Adam served as the operations officer for the flight facility and commanded its tenant unit. It was while serving in this capacity that Adam received a call from his brother in law, Tyler Bennett. Tyler is 4th generation owner of Bennett Water Systems and the Co-Founder and President of the California Water Alliance. Together they sell large scale drip irrigation systems throughout the Central Valley of California. The company engineers deep well pumps, large irrigation water storage reservoirs, filtration systems, and subsurface drip irrigation manifolds. They conserve and uniformly apply water on many crops such as tomatoes, cotton, almonds, citrus, onions, walnuts, and pistachios. With high distribution uniformity of water, Bennett Water Systems ensures their clients’ liquid fertilizer also reaches every plant or tree in the field with up to 96% uniformity.
Adam’s new mission is to conserve our agricultural community’s most precious resource while increasing yields and profits for growers. The skill sets he acquired while serving in the Army have been extremely valuable and highly transferable to the irrigation industry and the ag sector. Adam hopes to spread the message that many combat veterans exiting today’s military have an amazing tenacity and problem-solving resolve that can stand them in good stead in the agriculture sector.
