Diann Smith is the current president of the Farmer Veterans Coalition chapter in Oklahoma. She grew up in Peggs, Oklahoma, a small community in the heart of Cherokee Nation in Northeast Oklahoma. As a 4th generation farmer, Diann has a broad range of farming experience, beginning with being raised on a dairy farm. She has also worked in the poultry industry as an employee at Cobb-Vantress Research and Development farm, where chickens are raised from hatchery to laying hens. She currently manages a cow/calf operation that was established in 2005.

In order to be a good farmer, Diann believes that a person should be well-rounded in his/her experience. She joined the U.S. Army in 2001, where she spent 4 years of active service, including one tour in Korea and one tour in Iraq. After honorable discharge, she joined the Army Reserves where she served for another 4 years. 2 1/2 years of her service in the Army Reserves included another tour in Iraq. The remainder of the time was spent stateside. Her final rank was Staff Sergeant. In addition to military service, Diann holds a Bachelors’ degree in Psychology from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She currently works for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in the Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System.

Mrs. Smith served as the northeast director for the Oklahoma Cattlewomen’s Association from 2020-2022. She is very excited about her selection as President of the Farmer Veteran Coalition chapter in Oklahoma. Her knowledge and experience in both the military and agricultural business gives her insight for this position. Her motto is: There is no ‘I’ in team. The success of this endeavor will require teamwork. Diann looks forward to working with everyone to accomplish great things for this chapter.
